Self-proclaimed mathematics Evangelist tells youths how to become a maths genius.

Claims, “Maths is to the mind what love is to the heart.”

Well-known for his books The Mathematical Genius in You and GirlChild Rise Up, which are maths and science motivational books respectively aimed at changing the mindset of learners towards the subjects and teaching them how to think like mathematicians and scientist in problem solving. He is now affectionately known as “The Maths Evangelist” as a result of the statement he coined during one of his many interviews on DSTV’s Mindset channel, he said, “I am the appointed maths evangelist, as I am the bearer of good news, news that mathematics can be done by all”.

Speaking as guest of honour at a mathematics motivational session with Grade 11 learnershe had this to say:
Much has been said about changing your mindset and becoming the person you want to be. This change is never going to occur by merely reading my book, The Mathematical Genius in You and expect a miracle to happen. Application of the principles I gave you is the key. You are the key – bearer of your success, if you permit yourself to be committed, then you will have the strength and endurance to fight all the way through until you achieve. A man called Sadat once said “He who cannot change the very fabric of his thought will never be able to change reality, and will never therefore, make any progress.” This is particularly true in math context, where self-confidence and self-discipline will get you to that point where you can tackle any given problem. You become such a prolific problem solver that you are assured of becoming a mathematical genius. You can attain excellence if you work towards it whole heartedly with the intensity necessary and sufficient to guarantee it.
Today is the day to start, don’t wait for tomorrow because it might be too late. Start writing the book of your life today, no-one is ever going to that for you but yourself. This was well put by the musician by the name of Natasha Bedingfield in her song ‘Unwritten’, she had this to say:
“Feel the rain on your skin, No-one else can feel it for you, Only you can let it in, No-one else, no-one else, Can speak the words on your lips, Treat yourself to words unspoken, Live your life with arms wide open, Today, is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.”
You are the one who knows how badly you want to succeed in math, you are the only one who can surely feel the rain on your skin. It calls for innovation, creativity in your study habits so that you don’t get tired and bored. Be open-minded, that is to live life with arms wide open, it will surely broaden your horizons. At the end, what is your book going to be? What will people remember about you? What will you think of yourself? Start now, take action and embark on this fulfilling mathematical journey. You are a mathematical genius if you choose to be and work towards it.
